Although pretty much every year of the generation so far has been the PS4’s year, 2018 is shaping up to be a defining moment in the console’s lifecycle. Because, despite getting off to a slow start in terms of exclusive games in 2013, Sony’s upcoming slate is absolutely stacked, not only boasting a solid roadmap of releases that could see them through to the end of the generation, but also lining up a wide range of hotly-anticipated titles to drop over the next 12 months.
Unfortunately, while the most talked-about games like Death Stranding and The Last of Us: Part II almost definitely won’t be coming anytime soon. Sony has more than enough aces up its sleeve to make up for their absence. From the biggest AAA titles to the smallest indies, Sony’s planned lineup for the year is full of diverse and potentially brilliant games, but some of them are certainly shaping up to be better than others.
With Microsoft struggling to put even a handful of exclusives together – despite recently launching the Xbox One X – 2018 is Sony’s year for the taking, and these are the games the publisher is betting the house on to keep them on top going into the future.
