Anyone who’s seen literally any video-game movie will know that the genre isn’t exactly thriving, and over the years, some of the most disappointing blockbusters to grace the big-screen have been those inspired by our favourite gaming franchises.

Nobody knows why it’s proven so hard for filmmakers to adapt this type of material, and each time we get our hopes up, they’re shattered into a million tiny pieces.

Assassin’s Creed and Warcraft were supposed to open the floodgates for a new wave of high-quality gaming-centric flicks, but neither truly landed with audiences; the original Resident Evil movie wasn’t too bad, but its excessive sequels gradually got worse; and don’t get us started on Silent Hill: Revelation. Is there any hope left?

Well… yes! Tomb Raider lands in a couple of months and it looks promising, but the one that every gamer has their eye on is Uncharted, the upcoming adaptation of Naughty Dog’s blockbuster action series.

The project has had a troubled history, but with a director and leading man currently attached – along with a slew of other updates and developments – we’re closer to the Uncharted movie actually happening than we’ve ever been before…
