One of the many exciting things about each new year in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is the injection of new villains into the franchise. In 2017 alone, we met antagonists like Ego, the Pride, Ayesha, the Vulture, Hela, and many others for the first time, all of whom challenged the heroes we’ve come to know in ways both physical and psychological.
2018 will be no different. While we’ll be seeing the return of numerous familiar faces, whether it be Wilson Fisk, Mariah Dillard, and Shades in the Netflix shows or Ulysses Klaue and Thanos on the big screen, they’re going to be joined – in some cases directly – by a fresh batch of newcomers ready to play their part in turning our heroes’ lives upside down, from larger than life alien soldiers to those eager to fight for power in Wakanda.
With the new year now fresh before us, let’s take the opportunity to shine a light on who we can expect to see this year and why it’s worth looking out for them, sticking only to characters who have been confirmed and not rumored (sorry, fellow Bullseye fans). If you don’t want to be spoiled, now’s the time to turn back, but with that in mind, let’s get started.
