Sony’s forthcoming Venom film is a bit of a conundrum, not least because nobody quite knows how closely it’s going to work with the MCU.
While there is certainly a great deal of excitement and anticipation swirling around the upcoming comic book film, there is also a palpable sense of anxiety. It is a confusing project, that remains elusively hard to nail down.
Between the near-constant back and forth between Sony and Marvel across the press tour for Spider-Man: Homecoming and the recently blurred lines between the separate studio’s assets, it has been hard for anyone to truly wrap their heads around this one.
But with the first official image released from the set and production winding down, the film looks to be set to ramp up its advertising campaign over the next few weeks. Considering that we are talking about a Sony comic book film, that means the next several months will be nothing but a barrage of excessive amounts of material from the film.
And even without having seen a second of film, this project provides us with plenty of cause for concern.
