Microsoft has just released a new beta version of Launcher for Android, and just like expected, the changelog includes several new features that will also be part of the stable build rolling out in a few weeks.

First and foremost, Microsoft Launcher version 4.6 comes with digital assistant Cortana built in. This means that when you install the launcher, you also get the assistant, even though Cortana is also available separately on the Google Play Store.

The Microsoft Launcher and Cortana mix comes with a series of advantages and the personal assistant offers nearly the same functionality as the standalone app, including options to make a call, schedule meetings, change the wallpaper, Continue on PC, and even read the latest headlines.

New customization options

The new version of Microsoft Launcher also comes with options to share via NFC and QR code, as well as with support for Arabic/RTL languages. This means more users can install the app and run it in their own native language without having to stick with English.

For users putting customization above everything, Launcher 4.6 features support for widgets placed right in the dock, and this is certainly a nice touch that many users will love. Furthermore, it brings Intune integration with support for remote data-wiping, as well as options to pin searched apps and contacts to the home screen.

And last but not least, this version finally boasts options to choose what contacts to display on the People card.

It goes without saying that since this version is still in the beta stage, some bugs might still be experienced, though judging from the past releases, only minor issues were hit at this point of the development process.

While getting the beta typically requires you to be part of the testing program, you can download the latest Microsoft Launcher version for Android from Softpedia right now.
