Solo: A Star Wars Story trailers are like Jedi Shuttlebuses: you wait ages for one to come along, and then two arrive in quick succession.
The Super Bowl teaser existed largely to build hype for the trailer proper, which duly arrived a day later on Good Morning America. It caps off a worrisome period for the movie, which has been plagued by major behind-the-scenes issues that culminated in the firing of Phil Lord and Chris Miller, along with reports of an acting coach being brought in for star Alden Ehrenreich.
There were, then, a lot of doubts about this movie, its necessity, and certainly its potential quality, but luckily the Solo trailer(s) blast them away like Han shooting Greedo. And while they do show off the cast, including all the key players like Lando, Chewie, and Qi’ra, and a few cool set-pieces, it isn’t – thankfully – overly heavy on the spoilers. Still, knowing what we do about Han’s story and piecing together the clues in the trailer, there are a few plot details we can glean from the first look at the next trip to a galaxy far, far away.
